A new season – a note from Phyllis and Anita, Centre Co-Directors

It’s fall and we’re entering a new season.  We’d like to welcome back those of you who may be returning from a summer break or who may still be wondering whether the Edmonton Shambhala Centre is a place for you.

At our March community gathering we made the decision to step back from summer programming and to allow our volunteers and members to catch their breath.  We’ve needed time to regain perspective on our relationship with Shambhala International and while we don’t have any definitive answers, we do feel strongly that the Edmonton community is worth supporting.  We want to continue to cultivate the growth and equanimity that many people are seeking in their participation at the Centre.

The experience of the last year (plus), has brought focus to our own efforts and practice in how we show up with each other.  And, while not anywhere near perfect, we are dedicated to honouring each person as best we can.  This has been a journey of learning and discovery. And we want to keep that learning journey alive.

Look for a next newsletter which will provide an update on some of our fall plans.  We’re looking forward to seeing those of you who are wanting to participate in the life of the Centre.  If you would like to step up and help in anyway, please let us know.  Also feel free to communicate your thoughts, hopes and concerns with us at any time.

Warm regards

Phyllis and Anita, Co-Directors
