We’ve moved! (but still closed to in-person gatherings due to COVID)

The Edmonton Shambhala Centre has undergone significant changes in the past few months. Pre-covid, we had decided to let go of our physical meeting space on 124 Street & Jasper Avenue, a space we had dearly held for 22 years. The doors were permanently shut on this space on June 30, 2020.

How does the saying go, “when one door closes, another opens.” For many years, we had had a “get out of the basement” campaign – a wish that we would eventually find a space above ground, and where the sun could actually shine in. Well, we have found such a meeting space, not a permanent home that is just ours, but a space we can rent on the evenings and days we use it. It has 8 panels of floor to ceiling windows, a kitchen we can use, and a storage room with our sitting paraphernalia, and ritual objects ready to be set up when needed. It is a 4-minute drive or 25-minute walk directly north from where we used to be.

Having said all this, we do not have plans to open up any time soon due to Covid restrictions. We don’t want to take any chances. But due to Covid, the International Shambhala sangha has opened up to us via online sitting opportunities, group practices, classes, book study, Sunday gatherings, etc. If you are interested in these online opportunities, do check out the following links:
